We’d had a great day in Portsmouth with the sun beating down. Boarding the night ferry to Santander is always a treat. It’s always full of bikers and there’s time to chill out and have a few beers with friends that we’d met at the check in. It was the weekend of the piston rally so there were more bikes than usual.

We arrived in Santander ready to go and decided to ride some of the route along with the vintage bikes. We headed down into the Picos de Europa, a fabulous ride of stunning roads with twists and curves for miles and miles.

Departing the mountains we headed north up to Gijon, then along the north coast to Santa Cruz following some of the Pilgrim route. Our next port of call was Santiago De Compostela, the heart of the city is fantastic and well worth a day’s visit, the cathedral is stunning. Following the coast down to Bayona we found a brilliant campsite on the beach for a couple of days.

The following day we rode down into Portugal and across into Seixas to stop for lunch and then back up through the forests to the campsite.

Then on to Burgos, we were lucky to have picked a hotel right opposite the Cathedral, a walk round the City is a must there as well.
