MALLORCA
SEPTEMBER 2021
To beat the lockdown blues we decided to book a week in Mallorca. Staying at Cala de Sant Vicenc just a 10 minute ride from Pollenca was a good move. Turned out to be the perfect position to explore the Mountain roads on the west coast. The Guys at Mallorca Riders were spot on, delivered the bike to our hotel, saving me the trip to Santa Ponca.
The Ma10 is a brilliant ride it runs all the way down the west coast to Andratx. Turn off on to the Ma2141 to Sa Calobra and you’ll find yourself on Snake Road. A fantastic ride all the way to the coast, with sweeping bends and hairpins galore. The Serra De Tramuntana mountain range stretches for over 90km down from north to south; with very little traffic it’s the perfect place to ride at any time of day.
Further north is Cap De Formentor (Ma2210) another must if you’re on a bike. The road takes you up over the cliffs through shady forests and high viewpoints. Also great for exploring the beaches. It eventually arrives at the Lighthouse , Mallorca’s equivalent to lands’ end.
A great place to sit with a coffee and contemplate the return ride back to reality. From there it’s an easy ride to Alcudia with some suburb Mallorcan restaurants along the harbour. I rented a 650 V Strom and we did about 400 km in 5 days, bearing in mind the roads can be slow in places.
